Racism and Islamophobia Session – Update

The Racism and Islamophobia Information Session had to be postponed due to COVID19 restrictions. Due to continuing uncertainty surrounding the COVID19 restrictions, the Islamic Society of Geelong has decided to run the Information Session online via Zoom.

Time: 8 pm to 9 pm.

Objectives of the session:

  • Increase the awareness of community leaders and advocate on their rights, avenues to report, the complaints process and support mechanisms available if they choose to report.    
  • Empower communities experiencing racism, religious discrimination (including islamophobia), and racial and religious vilification to understand and exercise their rights, including reporting instances of racism, discrimination and vilification.  
  • Increase people’s reporting of racism, discrimination and vilification to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, Victoria Police and Islamic Council of Victoria.
