The Geelong Interfaith Network was pleased to participate two weeks ago at City Hall as members of different religions came together to commemorate the victims of the Christchurch massacre and to demonstrate our solidarity with the Muslims of Geelong.
How sad that only a few days later we have witnessed another attack on a faith community, this time in Sri Lanka, as Christians were worshipping at Easter, their most sacred time of the year.
We express our solidarity with the Christians of Geelong, with the people of all religions in Sri Lanka, with those from that country who live among us here, and we extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of all who were killed or wounded.
We believe a firm stand should be taken against religious fanaticism wherever and whenever it occurs.
